Dear Clients, Customers,
and Friends,
This letter is to
share with you our latest passion. We are
so tired of the constant political hammering that is occurring in the media. Regardless of your political feelings, there
is something that seems to have been forgotten.
That is, we are at war! We have men
and women in both Iraq and Afghanistan that are in harm’s way to a radical enemy
and we are not hearing about it much anymore. The news seems to center on Arizona’s new
law, or on the oil spill in the gulf, or on political rhetoric and posturing all
over the place.
Everyone says “We
support our troops,” but what are they doing to support them?
What I have observed, they are putting little yellow ribbons on their car
bumpers or lapels. How is that ‘support?’
Stout’s Cider Mill
has come up with a way you can honest-to-goodness support the troops – lift their spirits
– raise their morale. It all
happened one afternoon when two ladies came in from Benson and told me that they
had been sending our product, “Apple Pie in a Jar” to their sons and sons-in-law
in Iraq and Afghanistan.
But the clincher was the feedback!!
The soldiers e-mailed that when they came in off of patrol around ten in the evening,
they opened up a jar, heated up the contents, and the smell drifting through the
barracks drew other GI’s like a magnet “to the party.”
They sat around laughing and reminiscing about home.
AND after tasting the fare, they are sending word for more, and more, and
more. They said it was like apple pie from
home!
We have decided to try to comply with that request and send the troops as much as we can and to expand the action to as many as we can. Here is where we need your help. Look over the next few pages and see if you can’t help us in some way in this endeavor.
You will actually be supporting the troops, not just giving lip service.
Sincerely, Ron Stout
